Pamela Matson

Ms. Matson joined the Board of Trustees in 2011. She is the Dean of Earth Sciences and Goldman Professor of Environmental Sciences at Stanford University. Previously, she served as a Professor of Environmental Science, Policy and Management at the University of California and a Research Scientist at NASA-Ames Research Center. With more than 160 publications, she has been honored by the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (1992) and the National Academy of Sciences (1994), and is also an AAAS Fellow (1997), a MacArthur Fellow (1995-2000), and a recipient of the NASA Exceptional Service Medal (1993).

 

In addition to serving on GeoHazards International’s Board of Trustees, she currently is a member of the NRC Committee on America’s Climate Choices and the World Wildlife Fund for Nature Board of Trustees. Ms. Matson holds a BS in Biology from the University of Wisconsin, an MS in Environmental Science from Indiana University, and a Ph.D. in Forest Science from Oregon State University. She was also a post-doctoral fellow at North Carolina State University.
