GeoHazards International (GHI), established as an international
non-profit organization in 1991, seeks to reduce death and injury
caused by earthquakes and other natural hazards in the world’s
most vulnerable, at-risk communities. Beginning with its first
projects in the early 1990’s, GHI has developed and applied
effective methods that continue to save lives today in countries
around the world. By actively involving local institutions as
partners in the developing regions where they work, GHI is able
to secure cooperation at all levels and thus gain leverage that
leads to the long-term sustainability and widespread results of
its projects. The global trend toward ever more frequent and costly
losses resulting from natural disasters in developing countries
