Anne M. Sanquini

Anne Sanquini, PhD, is a geologist and multidisciplinary disaster scientist. Her research interests include methods to accelerate the mitigation of natural hazard risk and improve community resilience. Anne serves on the Board of Acterra, an environmental nonprofit known for local climate action. She grew up in rural Minnesota, earned a BA in Journalism from the University of Minnesota, and worked for the 3M Company. Anne came to Silicon Valley in the late 70’s. She held VP, Marketing positions at National Semiconductor and Sun Microsystems, and was the General Manager of a $200 million software business for Mentor Graphics. Anne “retired” from tech and returned to school, earning an MS in Geology from San Jose State, and a PhD in Geological & Environmental Sciences from Stanford. A lifelong hiker, she also served as Parks & Recreation Commissioner, Trails Committee, for the City of Saratoga.
