Board of Trustees

GHI’s  Board of Trustees is comprised of experienced professionals with diverse backgrounds, including earthquake science and engineering, international development, architecture, law, finance, and urban planning. Each has longstanding, strong ties in academic, business or government sectors. 

Bruce Clark

Bruce Clark joined the GeoHazards International Board of Trustees in 2019. He is Chairman Emeritus of the Leighton Group, a Southern California-based geotechnical and environmental consulting company with more than 50 years of experience in seismic and geologic hazard studies throughout California. Bruce was appointed by the Governor of California to the California Seismic Safety Commission, where he spent two terms and served as its Chair for two years.

His background with not-for-profit boards includes two terms as the Chair of the Board of the YMCA of Orange County, California; an elected member of the Council (and Treasurer) of the Geological Society of America; and a member of the Advisory Board of California (Seismic) Strong Motion Instruments Program. Bruce holds a B.S. degree in Geology (with Honors) from Yale University, and a Ph.D. in Geology from Stanford University. He is a former Professor of Geology at the University of Michigan.
