Board of Trustees

GHI’s  Board of Trustees is comprised of experienced professionals with diverse backgrounds, including earthquake science and engineering, international development, architecture, law, finance, and urban planning. Each has longstanding, strong ties in academic, business or government sectors. 

Doug Hohbach

Doug Hohbach joined the Board of Trustees in 2021. He is founding principal of Hohbach-Lewin, Inc. a structural and civil engineering firm with offices in Palo Alto, San Francisco, and Pasadena, California; and in Eugene, Oregon. He has designed and served as structural Engineer-of-Record for a wide variety of commercial/retail, educational, healthcare and residential facilities, including high-rise offices and multi-unit residential complexes.

Throughout his professional career, Doug has been committed to improving structural engineering knowledge and practice. His efforts have included developing engineering standards and codes and authoring technical articles on the structural and seismic behavior of steel, concrete, and wood buildings. Long active in the Structural Engineer’s Association of California, his roles have included Seismology Committee Chair, Professional Practices Chair, and President of both the State association and the Northern California regional association. Recently he also completed two terms on the Board of Directors of the Applied Technology Council. For the State of California, he has served on the Structural Engineering Technical Advisory Committee of the Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors & Geologists, and on the Advisory Board for the State Architect.

Doug is a registered civil engineer and a registered structural engineer in California. He holds a M.S. in Civil Engineering (structural emphasis) from Stanford University, and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Princeton University.
