Board of Trustees

GHI’s  Board of Trustees is comprised of experienced professionals with diverse backgrounds, including earthquake science and engineering, international development, architecture, law, finance, and urban planning. Each has longstanding, strong ties in academic, business or government sectors. 

Kenneth A. Kornberg

Menlo Park, California

Mr. Kornberg joined the Board of Trustees in 2009. His award winning architecture firm, Kornberg Associates, has earned acclaim as a leader in its field, with a client base that includes academic institutions, biotechnology firms, private research institutes, and major pharmaceutical companies worldwide. A recognized authority on research facility design, Mr. Kornberg frequently speaks about this specialty to both governmental and industry groups. His community involvement includes a six-year term on the Palo Alto Architectural Review Board, serving the last year as its Chairman. This last year he was president of the San Mateo County chapter of the Amlerican Institute of Architects and continues to serve on its board. Mr. Kornberg has also served as an advisor to the National Institutes of Health for research construction grant review and currently serves on the board of the Academy of Neurosciences for Architecture. He holds a BA in Architecture and an MS in Engineering, both from Stanford University.
