Sara Wadia-Fascetti joined the Board of Trustees in 2021. She is Vice Provost of the Ph.D. Network at Northeastern University, leading an initiative to transform Northeastern’s traditional and Boston-centric Ph.D. education to one that integrates industry with research and academics in a global context. A faculty member in the Civil & Environmental Engineering Department, her research focuses on the use of nondestructive sensing technologies for condition assessment and diagnostics on structural systems. As the former Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Education in the College of Engineering, she instigated a 30%-to-40% increase in research activities and grant proposals and a 160% increase in graduate revenue.

Dr. Wadia-Fascetti is a member of the Rochester Institute of Technology ADVANCE Institutional Transformation External Advisory Board and has served on several advisory councils at Carnegie Mellon University Engineering, including the Engineering & Public Policy Alumni Advisory Council. She is Co-Chair of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee for the Structural Engineering Institute. In 2003 she was recognized at the White House with a Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring. She received a Ph.D. and an M.S. in Civil Engineering (both Structural Engineering) from Stanford University, and a B.S. in Civil Engineering (double w/ Engineering & Public Policy) from Carnegie Mellon University.
