Board of Trustees

GHI’s  Board of Trustees is comprised of experienced professionals with diverse backgrounds, including earthquake science and engineering, international development, architecture, law, finance, and urban planning. Each has longstanding, strong ties in academic, business or government sectors. 

Yasunori Shoji

Yasunori Shoji joined the Board in 2017. He has managed numerous research and development activities of OYO Corporation in Japan, which provides geotechnical products, investigations and consulting to manage geophysical risk. Having worked at OYO for 33 years, he currently serves as Executive Officer of Engineering Headquarters. Prior to that, he was Executive Officer of the Instruments & Solution Division. His duties have been to supervise site investigations, and to manage research and development activities for new geotechnical instruments. He has developed both hardware and software to evaluate deterioration of infrastructure such as tunnels and bridge supports. While he was Chief Manager of OYO International Corporation, he was responsible for international geological and geophysical investigations and analyses, one of which evaluated land suitability in Istanbul City.

Mr. Shoji has an M.S. and a B.S. degree, both in Mining Engineering, from Tohoku University, Japan. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Japan ( Applied Science and Comprehensive Technical Management). He is a professional member of the Japanese Geotechnical Society, the Society of Exploration Geophysicists of Japan, the European Association of Geoscientists & Engineers, and the Society of Exploration Geophysicists.
