Arnel Auguste
Field Officer
Port-de-Paix, Haiti

Arnel Auguste is a native of Port-de-Paix, in the Nord-Ouest Department of Haiti and is a lawyer and administrator by training. He has 14 years of experience in disaster risk reduction (DRR) with the Haitian Red Cross and other NGOs and has been heavily involved in efforts during the recent disaster events in northern Haiti. He actively participated in the response during the 2010 Haiti earthquake as a national team member in the WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) and Temporary Shelter clusters with the International Federation of the Red Cross (IFRC). He was also the DRR Officer who coordinated with the Regional Committee of the Red Cross. In the aftermath of the 2018 earthquake near Port-de-Paix, he coordinated a team that conducted the Vulnerability and Capacity Assessment of some municipalities, as well as a public outreach campaign. He also created emergency units at schools in order to ensure the continuity of training at schools. Mr. Auguste is a certified trainer for the National System of Disaster Management and has conducted diverse ‘‘Train the Trainer’’ sessions for IFRC, and the American and Haitian Red Cross. Most recently, he has been a Regional Coordinator for DRR and Covid-19 response in the Nord-Ouest Department. Mr. Auguste speaks French, Creole and English. He has a degree in public administration, politics and also a license in legal science.
