GHI’s  staff is comprised of experienced professionals with diverse backgrounds, including earthquake science, engineering, medicine, law, communications, finance and international development. 

Susan Fields Bailey joined GeoHazards International in 2019. She has held key roles in several nonprofit organizations, including Palo Alto Partners in Education, which raises over $5 million each year for Palo Alto schools. She served as its first President for five years and later as Vice President of Leadership Circle Development for four years. She is on the Board of Palo Alto Community Fund (PACF), a 40-year-old foundation that gives out $450K per year to about 40 local nonprofits, which is striving to increase its impact through deeper connections with their community of donors and nonprofits. She chairs their strategic planning effort and was previously chair of development. Ms. Bailey also serves on several other local non-profit boards.

Prior to her nonprofit efforts, she worked at Lockheed Martin for 15 years on satellite and launch vehicle programs, most recently as the Chief Engineer for an Air Force satellite program. She is an aerospace engineer with degrees from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (B.S.) and Stanford University (M.S.).
