A Year of Resilience & What Lies Ahead

It’s incredible to reflect on where we were a year ago. At the time, our largest active program — funded by USAID and representing about 1/3 of our annual revenue — was suddenly terminated. The abrupt loss of this four-year, $2.94M award deeply shook our organization, our work, and team members across 9 countries.
Our small organization, however, proved to be resilient and mighty.
While the road ahead remains challenging, our financial achievements over the past year have been nothing short of remarkable. Thanks to our dedicated team and the unwavering support of people like you, we secured 10 new projects in 2025, raised a record amount in donations and grants, and implemented thoughtful cost-saving measures – all without jeopardizing our team and mission.
Together, we closed what had been a daunting funding gap. We couldn't have done it without you – thank you.
We also made exciting progress across our core programs. Highlights below.

(Left) We launched three new projects in Haiti that will leverage our 10+ years of work there and collectively benefit over 1.1 million people. (Right) Our Nature-based Solutions program in the Philippines has gained tremendous local interest, and we are now integrating that progress into local disaster risk reduction plans.

(Left) Our Earthquake Desk program in Nepal has made great strides, positioning us to place the first Earthquake Desks in vulnerable Nepali classrooms later this year. (Right) A milestone years in the making, our scenario-based resilience work in Thimphu, Bhutan — which began in 2020 — has now been formally incorporated into the city’s Disaster Management & Contingency Plan, serving as a guiding framework for years to come.
As we look ahead in 2026, we continue to navigate the lasting effects of suddenly losing our large, multi-year USAID program. At the same time, our momentum is re-building, and we are starting the year from a position of strength.
With our incredibly dedicated team and our generous community of supporters, I look forward to what lies ahead. Together, we can continue our life-saving work and remain a steady source of strength for communities most at risk.
Thank you for being part of this journey, and for making what comes next possible.
With my deepest gratitude,
