You’re Invited! Leveraging Nature to Protect At-Risk Communities: Our Philippine Pilot Program
I am excited to share with you our novel program for mangrove conservation, a nature-based solution to help protect at-risk communities from tsunamis, typhoons, storm surge and coastal erosion. In partnership with Philippine communities and local government, we are equipping local leaders and community partners to manage mangroves and other natural assets for lasting resilience. I hope you will join one of our webinar sessions on September 16 or 17.
Although they grow naturally in many coastal regions, mangroves are quickly vanishing worldwide. Low-income coastal communities and small island developing nations face particular risk from the loss. In addition to providing protection from hazards, thriving mangroves enrich communities with habitat for fisheries, provide timber and plant products, trap sediment, and filter pollutants.
Our team will share insights from our field experience: the participatory approach, community-based and science-informed mangrove management strategies, and local efforts to institutionalize nature-based solutions. Panel participants will offer observations and highlight other applications of nature-based solutions.

We’ll present two sessions to accommodate different time zones. Please choose the one you prefer. The same content will be covered in both.
